Set options for a physical keyboard

These options appear when your device has a physical keyboard or one is attached.

1. Open Text Assist.
2. Under Hardware Keyboard, do any of the following:

• Layout: Tap to match the letters on your keyboard. Automatic uses the layout your device detected.
• On-Screen Keyboard: Turn on to reach characters the keys don't have. When this is off, the onscreen keyboard stays out of the way while the physical keyboard is in use.
• Type on the Keypad: Appears on a keypad with digits and no letters. Turn on to type words by pressing a key repeatedly. If you leave it off, the onscreen keyboard stays.

You can also show or hide the onscreen keyboard from the system menu: Tap Show On-screen Keyboard or Hide On-screen Keyboard.
