Use Terminal

Terminal gives you a command line on your device. It is meant for people who know their way around Linux. A wrong command can damage your system or erase your information.

  1. Open Terminal.
  2. Type a command and press Enter on the keyboard.

Keys a phone keyboard does not have

A bar above the onscreen keyboard offers Ctrl, Esc, arrows, function keys and some ready-made commands. The button at the left of the bar switches between Scroll, Cmds, Fx, Nano and Ctrl. A key with a dot has more choices: press and hold it.

Gestures on the terminal

  • Drag one finger: Moves the cursor and goes through earlier commands.
  • Drag two fingers: Scrolls back through the output.
  • Press and hold: Opens Copy, Paste and Select All.
